What’s your excuse?

I notice whenever people try to break into the affiliate marketing industry, they very often have excuses ready “I don’t have any money” “I’m too busy” “I’m not really good at technical stuff.” They make excuses before they even start…it’s like they’re already preparing themselves for failure. Most excuses are made to for ego-protection – they don’t want to feel as if they failed because they didn’t work hard enough or weren’t smart enough, so blaming other things makes it easier. I’ve seen 16 year old affiliates, I’ve seen 60 year old affiliates, I’ve seen women affiliates, I’ve seen affiliates from really poor countries like India, most of the industry doesn’t have a college degree, etc. Whatever excuse you have is not valid. No matter how bad your situation is, I guarantee you that many people have had it worse and...

London Tube Strike Causing “Chaos”

Posted by on Feb 5, 2014 in Jobs and Careers, Makes you think, Working from home | Comments Off on London Tube Strike Causing “Chaos”

This morning we are greeted with the news that millions of people are being affected by a strike on the London Underground system. I have to say, this sort of story just reminds me once again how fortunate (you make your own fortune) I am to be able to work from home. I hope you are one of them. Thanks for...

Yesterday marked the 13 years since I started working for myself rather than working for someone else. What an amazing journey… It was the most liberating feeling I’ve ever had and is up there with getting married and having children in terms of “special moments”. If you are considering working for yourself my simple advice is “go for it!” What’s the worst that could happen? You don’t make a success and you have to go back to a job. What’s the best that could happen? Well, that’s a much different answer – you can gain financial freedom, you get time freedom, you are liberated, you are the master of your own destiny, you choose when you want to work, how you want to work and so on. The upside way out weighs the downside. Mind you, I am talking...

Slave or Free?

Posted by on Nov 6, 2013 in Jobs and Careers | Comments Off on Slave or Free?

Are you a slave without realising? Now this article may seem a bit far fetched, but bear with me. Slavery was abolished many years ago and that’s a good thing. However, personally think a lot of people are still slaves without realising it, trapped by a master and performing tasks to make the masters life better with very little control over their own lives. The Oxford English Dictionary defines a slave as “a person who is excessively dependent upon or controlled by something” and “a person who is the property of another and is forced to obey them”. Now let’s consider a typical “job”. I would like to suggest to you that the word “employee” could very easily be translated to “slave”. Whilst an employee may not be the legal property of their employer, the other boundaries as to what makes someone...
