Yesterday marked the 13 years since I started working for myself rather than working for someone else. What an amazing journey…
It was the most liberating feeling I’ve ever had and is up there with getting married and having children in terms of “special moments”. If you are considering working for yourself my simple advice is “go for it!”
What’s the worst that could happen? You don’t make a success and you have to go back to a job.
What’s the best that could happen? Well, that’s a much different answer – you can gain financial freedom, you get time freedom, you are liberated, you are the master of your own destiny, you choose when you want to work, how you want to work and so on. The upside way out weighs the downside.
Mind you, I am talking about self employment that is not dependent on you getting paid 1 hours income for 1 hours work . I am talking about the sort of work where you work once and get paid over and over again e.g. getting a customer for a product or service where there is a monthly subscription and you getting paid a percentage of that subscritpion.
